Two men have been arrested in Broadway, following a serious assault on an 88 year old man.

The victim was attacked on Murcot Turn just after 9.30pm on Sunday (11th May).

He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

West Mercia Police arrested a 46 year old man at the scene, on suspicion of attempted murder.

He's since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

A 40 year old was also arrested yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 13th May) on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Detective Inspector Mark Davidson from West Mercia Police, said: “The news of this incident has understandably caused concern locally and I’d like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation over the last couple of days while we’ve been carrying out our enquiries. I know it will have been alarming to see armed officers in the area.

“While our investigation is at an early stage, I can confirm that we’re not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and there’s no threat to the wider community.”
