Three West Mercia Police officers taken to hospital following disturbance
The force says they were bitten whilst trying to detain a man who was resisting arrest in Worcestershire
Three West Mercia Police officers have needed hospital treatment after they were bitten by a man.
A spokesperson for the force says they were targeted during a disturbance in Worcestershire on Saturday 28th June 2025.
The exact location in the county where it happened hasn't been revealed.
The officers suffered bites which broke the skin and left clear bite marks on the officers. All received hospital treatment.
No-one else was injured in the incident.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault on emergency workers, burglary and criminal damage - and later released on bail.
Chief Superintendent Edd Williams from West Mercia Police said:
“Police officers expect to face challenging situations during their duties, but violence against them is despicable. It is an affront on public safety and will not be tolerated.
“Assaults on emergency workers are criminal acts and will be dealt with accordingly.”
