Three teenage girls arrested following stabbing in Whittington

An investigation has been launched after a teenager was stabbed in Whittington, Worcestershire yesterday evening (Sunday 21 September).

The incident happened at around 7.40pm in a park near Mayfield, south east of Worcester city centre.

The victim, a 14-year-old girl, was taken to hospital with injuries which are serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

Three girls, all aged 14, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Sharon Wallace-Rathmell said: “I know this incident has shocked the local community, and I’d like to reassure you that we’re working hard to understand what happened.

“A scene guard remains in place this morning and there will continue to be a police presence in the area throughout the day while officers carry out enquiries.

“If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information which may help with our enquiries we’d ask you to please get in touch.”
