Three arrested after suspected firearm spotted in Hereford
West Mercia Police armed officers were called out on Monday evening.
Three men have been arrested after reports of a man carrying a suspected firearm in Hereford.
West Mercia Police were called to the Norton Avenue area at around 8.30pm on Monday 29 June.
Armed officers were dispatched to the scene and located three men in the Oak Crescent area within minutes.
Three men, aged 36, 42 and 33, were detained on suspicion of possession of a firearm at around 8.45pm and taken into custody where they are helping police with enquiries.
Inspector Kevin Powell of Hereford Police said:“Our officers acted quickly when a firearms incident was declared in a public place last night.
“Fortunately, it is believed that the weapon is an imitation, but our communities can be reassured by the swift response from our officers and that arrests that have been made.
“This was an isolated incident, and we do not believe there was any wider risk to the public.”
