Teenage boy arrested on suspicion of rape in Worcester

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape in Worcester.

West Mercia Police say the arrest comes after officers found a 15-year-old girl in Battenhall Fields at around 3:30am this morning (7 July) officers after receiving a report she was missing.

A 16-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of rape.

He remains in police custody.

The force say officers will remain in the areas today (7 July) while their enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Ed Jones said: “Our immediate priority has been safeguarding the girl involved and progressing our investigation, which has already led to an arrest.

“We understand this incident may cause concern for local residents. There will continue to be a police presence in the area today while our enquiries continue, and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers. We are committed to carrying out a thorough investigation and ensuring those affected receive the support they need.”
