Herefordshire and Worcestershire are expected to be especially badly hit by Storm Claudia over the next 24 hours (Friday 14/Saturday 15 November).

The counties are under a yellow warning for heavy rain and strong winds between 6am on Friday to 6am on Saturday, but the Met Office has also placed the region in the next level amber warning from midday today until midnight.

That indicates:

  • Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life
  • Homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • Spray and flooding leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • A good chance some communities will be cut off by flooded roads
  • Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely
  • Power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses possible
