Herefordshire Council is set to continue its additional multi-million pound funding into the county’s roads this year.

The authority has announced five roads will undergo work this month as part of its extra £13.5 million investment into the county’s highway network in 2025/26.

In 2024/25, £3.66 million was invested in a surface dressing preparation programme across the county's C and unclassified road network while £8 million was put into resurfacing parts of it - £5 million being committed to the A and B and a further £3 million for the C and unclassified road networks.

For 2025/26 a further £2.5 million is to be invested in the dressing preparation and £11 million pounds more on resurfacing works.

"Investing in our county’s roads remains a top priority," said councillor Barry Durkin, cabinet member for roads and regulatory services.

"We are committed to continuing to deliver our additional £13.5 million roads improvement scheme into 2026.”

So far the authority say 100 miles of road improvement schemes have already been completed this financial year.

The latest improvement works planned from the New Year are:

5 - 12 January - U70610 - Cantilupe Road, Ross-on-Wye

12 - 13 January - U73440 Church View, Much Dewchurch

14 - 16 January - C1320 Old School Lane

19 - 21 January - Ashes Lane - Byway WC61

27 - 28 January - C1172 (B4214 to Beggars Ash, Wellington Heath)
