Richard Hammond fined £999 for speeding twice in three weeks
Former Top Gear host also faces penalty points on his licence

Richard Hammond, the former Top Gear presenter, has been fined £999 by Telford Magistrates’ Court after being caught speeding twice within three weeks while driving luxury cars.
The 56-year-old TV personality was driving his Porsche when he violated the speed limit on 2nd December last year, followed by a subsequent offence on 22nd December in a Bentley.
West Mercia Police pursued two prosecutions against Hammond, presenting speed camera footage of him driving in Herefordshire to substantiate the offenses.
Efforts to locate Hammond led police to various properties before finding him at his mansion near Abergavenny, Wales.
Hammond pleaded guilty through his lawyers to the speeding charges and received seven penalty points on his licence. Magistrate Ann Minton ordered him to pay £1,771, which includes fines, costs, and victim surcharges.
The court noted Hammond's past speeding incidents, including a near-fatal crash in a jet car during Top Gear filming and a driving ban in France in 2013.
Police statements in court highlighted his luxury Porsche clocked at 68mph in a 50mph limit and Bentley at 82mph in a 70mph zone.
Hammond contested additional charges related to failing to identify himself, which were eventually dropped as he was convicted of speeding via the Single Justice Procedure.
This legal process expedited the handling of low-level criminal cases, resolving Hammond's charges among 39 defendants convicted during the session.
