A prolific shoplifter who targeted stores in Redditch was jailed for four months at court yesterday.

29-year-old Todd McDonald, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to ten counts of theft from shop and two counts of burglary with intent to steal (non-dwelling) at Kidderminster Magistrates Court.

McDonald was sentenced to four months concurrently for each of the offences. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.

Police Sergeant Charlie Osborne of Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “We are pleased to get a custodial term at court for McDonald whose persistent shoplifting has undoubtedly impacted retailers in the town."

“Shoplifting is not a victimless offence—it impacts businesses, their employees, and the wider community and tackling it remains a priority for West Mercia Police."

“This outcome reinforces our commitment to pursuing thieves through the courts, where they may face imprisonment like McDonald.”
