Police in Malvern Hills have issued a safety warning concerning the risks associated with flooded areas following recent heavy rains.

The local force is urging people to avoid walking or driving through deep water, as flooded roads can pose significant hazards.

A recent social media post outlined the dangers of driving vehicles, including four-wheel drives, through floodwaters as water can easily sweep away cars.

According to the police, driving into floodwater can create a bow wave that could cause extensive damage to nearby homes and businesses, holding drivers liable for any resulting damage.

Moreover, the police emphasised that most insurance policies do not cover damage from driving through floodwaters, rendering drivers financially responsible.

The warning also highlighted the dangers of entering flooded fords on foot or by vehicle, advising residents to heed the advice and avoid floodwater altogether.
