Peregrine falcon chick dies at Worcester Cathedral

There's some sad news from Worcester Cathedral - as one of their peregrine falcon chicks has died.
The cause isn't clear at the moment, as the livestream of their nesting box went down around the same time, earlier this week.
Two remaining chicks are still being looked after.
Sharing the news on their social media yesterday (7 May), they said: "Very sadly one of the peregrine chicks at Worcester Cathedral died overnight on Tuesday / Wednesday.
"Coincidentally the livestream went down last night due to a network outage, so we are unsure of the cause at this stage. We are monitoring the camera and the two remaining chicks seem to be fine so far. We are keeping a close eye on the nest and have resumed the livestream on You Tube.
"Peter and Peggy, or Mr and Mrs P as they are known, have had three very successful years, producing and fledging four healthy chicks in 2022, 2023 and 2024 at the cathedral. This year for the first time the fourth egg did not hatch, which is not unusual. It is also not unusual for some chicks not to survive, they are wild birds after all. It is very sad for this to have happened, after we have become accustomed to such successful breeding by the pair.
"We are hopeful the two remaining chicks will continue to thrive and fledge successfully in the coming weeks, and we'll keep you updated as things progress."
