New Worcestershire homeless charity CEO focusing on delivering integrated support system

The new chief executive of a Worcestershire homeless charity has said it's important work continues by them and others to tackle the stigma around the issue.
Jon Perry was announced as the new CEO of Maggs Day centre towards the end of last month, which has been operating across the county for over 40 years.
He's taken over the role from Dr Nia D Thomas who held the position on an interim basis.
Following his appointment, he's been outlining some of his key priorities, he said: "What I'm looking to do is try and introduce and bring some of my experience from other sectors and develop a holistic approach to supporting homelessness in Worcestershire.
"It’ll be providing a landscape of end-to-end support, so it won't just be with Maggs, but it'll be in partnership with other local organisations.
"So statutory and non-statutory organisations working together to provide an integrated support system for homeless people to help reduce and ultimately remove it."
The charity, which opened its doors in 1985, uses its Worcester day centre as its central hub but has also expanded in recent years to have ones in Malvern and Redditch.
Mr Perry said as well as providing the support to those who need it, it is also vital to make people more aware of what can lead to someone being homeless and how they help to try and get them off the streets.
"There are often underlying causes which people may not understand because they haven't experienced it and don't know people who have experienced it themselves," he said.
"I think it's our responsibility to inform people and help them understand, because for the most part, people don't choose to be homeless.
"I just want to really emphasise because it’s really important to us, that people don't see a donation or a volunteering contribution as just trying to maintain the status quo for those people because we're not trying to do that, we're trying to build a relationship and support and enable them to move forward."
