A man accused of causing more than £100,000 of damage by driving a tractor through a Worcestershire market town flooded by Storm Bert will be tried in December.

Simon Morgan, 58, of St Michaels in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, appeared at Worcester Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with 16 counts of criminal damage.

He is accused of driving a John Deere tractor through the flooded streets of Tenbury Wells on November 24 last year, damaging multiple businesses in Market Street and Teme Street.

The court heard Morgan's alleged actions caused "significant" damage "in excess of £100,000".

Morgan, who wore a grey suit and tie, spoke only to confirm his full name, date of birth, and that he would give no indication of pleas at this stage.

Morgan was granted bail ahead of a trial at Worcester Crown Court on December 4.
