M5 closed in Worcestershire after serious crash near Bromsgrove

Part of the M5 in Worcestershire is closed after a serious crash.

The road is shut southbound between junction 4 near Rubery and junction 4A for the M42.

It's reported the incident involved a Heavy Goods Vehicle and a motorcyclist.

In a statement, National Highways said: "The M5 is closed southbound between J4 Rubery and J4a for the M42 due to a multi vehicle collision.

"Emergency services are on scene.

"There are currently delays of 50 mins on approach to the incident with approx. 5 miles of congestion."

In a statement, West Mercia Police said: "We were called to reports of an RTC at junctions 4 and 4a on the M5 southbound this morning around 7.20am involving a motorbike, a car and two HGVS.

"The carriageway is currently closed, and police are at the scene.

"The incident is ongoing."
