Three people have been arrested after a police car was attacked in Stourport.

Officers were in a marked police car on Linden Avenue at around 1pm on Saturday (26 September) when they say two men wearing balaclavas and riding a black motorbike approached them.

One of the men threw a brick at the driver's side window.

The officer driving the car wasn't injured and the window remained intact, but the wing mirror was damaged.

Police believe the attack could be linked to an earlier incident on Yarranton Close, where officers recovering a vehicle without tax were reportedly threatened.

The motorbike involved in the attack is also suspected to have been involved in a crash on York Street at around 4pm that same day.

It was abandoned at the scene and later recovered by police.

Two men were arrested in the Bewdley area on Monday (28 September).

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, criminal damage and a public order offence.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of threats to cause criminal damage and theft of a motor vehicle.

Both have been released on bail.

A third man, aged 19, was arrested on Tuesday (29 September) on suspicion of criminal damage and theft of a motor vehicle. He remains in custody.

Police Sergeant Ian Squires from Wyre Forest SNT said: “We are pleased to make three arrests following this unacceptable and unprovoked attack on an officer who had been executing his duties.

“Fortunately, the officer involved was uninjured, but this could have been a very different outcome that could have resulted in members of the public being hurt as well."
