The railway line connecting Hereford and Shrewsbury has been closed for the second consecutive day.

The line was closed following a major collision between a train and a tractor trailer on the tracks near Leominster on Thursday (May 22nd).

Investigators are remaining on the scene as they try to establish the cause of the collision, while engineers are now working to restore the line as quickly as possible.

In a statement, Transport for Wales said they are working together with Network Rail to help repair the damaged line.

They also added that rail replacement buses will run between Shrewsbury and Hereford, with buses set to leave Shrewsbury ten minutes to the hour.

Transport for Wales confirmed that tickets for trains can be used and redeemed on certain services including Northern, CrossCountry and Avanti West Coast, which use the stretch of track along their own services.

Passengers are still being urged to check the latest situation before they travel, with updates on the situation due to be released throughout Friday (May 23rd).
