Kidderminster and Droitwich Spa stations bloom with new flower displays planted by volunteers
Volunteer groups have brightened up two Worcestershire stations for the summer
Two railway stations in Worcestershire have been given a summer makeover with new floral displays, planted by local volunteers.
The colourful arrangements can now be found at Kidderminster and Droitwich Spa stations.
The work was made possible after funding from West Midlands Railway's station adoption fund.
Who's behind the displays
At Kidderminster, the flowers were planted by the Kidderminster Mainline Station Adoption Group.
The group is made up of 10 volunteers from the Wyre Forest and District University of the Third Age.
In Droitwich, the planting was carried out by Friends of Droitwich Spa, who aim to boost biodiversity through their projects.
What is a station adopter
Station adopters are volunteers who help out at their local station to keep it well maintained.
Their projects can include gardening, painting and installing artwork or information boards.
West Midlands Railway and sister brand London Northwestern Railway together have more than 440 volunteers across a network of 155 stations.
Shantel Carty, community engagement manager at West Midlands Railway, said: "The new displays in Kidderminster and Droitwich are beautiful and really brighten up the two stations. Our station adopters work really hard to make stations more welcoming for the local community and we hope passengers enjoy the flowers as they travel through."
