Hundreds of forget-me-not sculptures to form annual celebration garden in Worcester
St Richard's Hospice is to plant nine hundred of them around St Andrew’s Spire today (14 August)
A large collection of flower-themed sculptures are to go on display in Worcester today to give people a chance to reflect and remember someone.
Nine hundred in the shape of forget-me-nots will be planted around St Andrew's Spire in the city by St Richard's Hospice for its annual celebration garden.
All of them have been handcrafted by Ed Alvis from Metal Art UK, who is based in the county near Evesham, with it also acting as a fundraiser to help fund the free care and support the hospice provides to more than 3,000 people across Worcestershire each year.
St Richard’s campaigns fundraiser, Laura Clarke, said: "The celebration garden is an idea that we've developed over the years to give people a special way to remember and celebrate someone's life, while also raising vital funds for St. Richard's Hospice.
"We've been running the celebration garden for several years now and each year we choose a different flower or a symbol.
"In the past, we've done things like butterflies, bees, sunflowers, tulips and snowdrops, and this year we've chosen forget-me-nots, which felt particularly fitting because of that really simple message of remembering someone special."
They'll remain on display until the 31 August.
