A 45-year-old man from Sutton St. Nicholas, Hereford, has been sentenced to an extended custodial period of 23 years for a decade of sexual abuse.

Michael Pugh appeared before Worcester Crown Court on 2nd October, where he was convicted of 16 offences including six counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault.

The court also found Pugh guilty of engaging in controlling behaviour and causing grievous bodily harm without intent.

His offences involved multiple acts of sexual abuse and exploitation, including forcing the victim to perform on webcams.

Pugh was given a 15-year sentence, with an additional eight years on licence.

He was further subjected to lifetime restrictions including a restraining order preventing contact with the victim, a 25-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and registration as a sex offender for life.

Detective Chief Inspector James Bamber from the Protecting People Unit praised the courage of the survivor and highlighted the thorough investigation that contributed to the conviction.

His Honour Judge Lockhart condemned the severity of Pugh's case, acknowledging the profound impact on the victim's life and expressing hope for her recovery and healing.

The conviction underscores the commitment to obtaining justice for victims of serious sexual offences.
