Hereford FC have announced they will be returning to play matches back at their home ground from next month.

The club's confirmed its National League North game on Tuesday 10 March when it faces Leamington is to be held at the MandM Edgar Street Stadium.

Ongoing pitch issues have seen their last three recent home fixtures taking place elsewhere, the ones on the 17 and 24 February against Darlington and Chester being hosted at Sixways Stadium in Worcester where Worcester City FC and rugby union side Worcester Warriors play.

The Scarborough Athletic match in between those dates on the 21 February was played at Redditch United's Valley Stadium, with their last game at Edgar Street coming on the 10 January in the FA Trophy.

Speaking to the club's website, chairman Chris Ammonds said: "“With the temperature rising and the long range forecast showing that hopefully the worst of the winter rainfall is behind us, we are really excited about the prospect of returning to our iconic home ground for the National League North League match against Leamington on Tuesday 10 March.

“While we are grateful to Sixways and Redditch United for their hospitality, there really is no place like home and I’d like to encourage as many of our fantastic supporters as possible to come to the game and get behind our team."

It'll be the first time manager Aaron Downes has coached the side at Edgar Street since his appointment to the role until the end of the season earlier this month after the club parted company with Paul Caddis with them in the relegation zone.

He's so far overseen the last three home games played away from the ground where they remain second bottom in the league table but have closed the gap to safety to five points, winning his first match 1-0 against Darlington then losing 2-1 to Scarborough Athletic, before beating Chester 5-2.

“This will be the first opportunity for a number of players and our new management team to experience a game under the lights at the MandM Edgar Street Stadium, and it would be fantastic to demonstrate once again what our support is all about," Ammonds said.

“By turning up in large numbers, we really can make a difference and I really want to show our new arrivals how much our club means to us, and how much we will get behind a team that is giving its all in our famous white shirt.”

The Bulls face three away trips before that next home match, starting with travelling to Alfreton Town tomorrow (28 February).
