Non-league football club Malvern Town have been given permission to build a new Hills View Stand which will provide covered standing for more than 400 fans at Langland Stadium.

The Hillsiders’ clubhouse will also be upgraded to include a terrace and canopy, providing step-free access and a raised platform for wheelchair users.

Members of Malvern Hills District Council’s planning committee approved the plans at a meeting on the 21 January.

“We’re incredibly pleased," club chairman Chris Pinder.

"This unanimous decision reflects just how much support there is for what we’re building, not just a better football ground, but a lasting community asset.

“We’re grateful to the council, our supporters, and everyone who helped us get to this point. The Hills View Stand will become something truly special for Malvern.”

He said the club will now start working with contractors and suppliers to get construction underway as soon as possible and hopes to have the works completed ready for the start of next season.

Mr Pinder also added he was proud of the clubhouse plans, which he said will make the ground a “more inclusive stadium”.

The project is being funded by the club, its shareholders, cornerstone sponsors, and the Premier League Stadium Fund.
