A Herefordshire teacher who was accused of sexually assaulting a child in Turkey, has been discharged from an extradition request made by the Turkish government.

54 year-old teacher Rebecca Richardson, originally from Cradley, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court today to fight the extradition request. Turkey requested Richardson's extradition after she was accused of sexually assaulting a young child while teaching at an international school in Istanbul in January 2019.

At today's hearing, Judge Paul Goldspring discharged her from the extradition request.

The judge also gave the Crown Prosecution Service two weeks to decide if they wish to appeal the decision at the High Court.

Rebecca Richardson has been granted bail until the next hearing which will take place on July 9th.
