The Severn Valley Railway (SVR) has successfully arranged an extra day of services with the legendary Flying Scotsman, following an overwhelming demand that saw tickets for its original three-day appearance sell out in just three minutes.

The iconic locomotive will now run on Monday 28 July, offering three return trips between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. This extension will provide more opportunities for visitors to experience the famous engine in action, with no other services operating on that day.

An additional 1,000 tickets will go on sale at 10:00am on Tuesday 8 July, including standard travel, first-class seats, and places in the line’s luxury observation saloon.

SVR Managing Director Jonathan Dunster said:

‘We are incredibly grateful to the National Railway Museum and Northern Steam Operations Limited for agreeing to this extension to 60103’s stay with us. Clearly, SVR supporters are hugely keen to travel behind this world-famous loco, and we want as many people as possible to be able to do that at the Severn Valley Railway." The Flying Scotsman will reopen the SVR's full line to Bridgnorth on 25 July, hauling the season’s first full-line service following recent repairs to a landslip at Mor Brook bridge. The visit also marks part of SVR’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Over the weekend of 26–27 July, the locomotive will be featured as part of the railway’s Swinging Sixties event, which includes additional steam and heritage diesel services.

The Flying Scotsman, built in 1923, is one of the most famous steam engines in the world and rarely runs on heritage lines. It last visited the Severn Valley Railway in 2016.
