Family 'delighted' to beat Guinness World Record time at Worcester half marathon
Alice Braga and her sons completed the event in a combined time which was around 1 hour 40 minutes faster than the current record for the fastest half marathon run by a mother and three children
A mum has described breaking a Guinness World Record at the Worcester half marathon alongside her three sons as just an "amazing day".
Alice Braga, also known as Alice Johnston, took on the challenge at the event last week of aiming to set the fastest time to run the distance by a mother and three children.
The consultant anaesthetist and medical examiner at the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust was joined by her boys Angus, Archie and Ollie, as they completed it in a combined time of 6 hour 27 minutes, around 1 hour 40 minutes faster than the record.
They came up with the idea to do it in memory of Alice's late husband Rob, who is the children's father, with this year marking ten years since he passed away.
"We wanted to do something really positive that we think he would have really loved," Alice said.
"The celebration as Angus came over the line knowing we'd got the record was just something else, there were tears, there was laughter, there were hugs.
"We'd already amassed a small support group of people as well who were all invested in the whole thing by then, people that we'd met along the course, so everyone was just delighted."
She added, they were cheered on by family and friends, including Rob's 90-year-old father, and were now going through all the relevant pieces to get the record recognised and established.
