Detectives are continuing the investigation into the death of an 11-year-old girl in Elmley Castle, near Pershore.

The girl was reported missing late on Sunday, 4th October, and discovered deceased in the park near the cricket ground.

Police have stated the death is currently being treated as unexplained as they seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the event.

Chief Inspector Daniel Pilkington acknowledged the speculation and community impact, clarifying that officers are not attempting to identify any third party at present.

Pilkington commented, “Our thoughts remain with the girl’s family and friends at what is an incredibly sad and difficult time for them."

He added, “People may continue to see officers in Elmley Castle while this work takes place, and I hope their presence provides some reassurance to residents."

The girl's family is being supported by specially trained officers, and further details will be released as the investigation unfolds.
