Easter weekend 'important' for businesses on the high street says Redditch BID
This weekend is the first bank holiday since Christmas
The Redditch Business Improvement District (BID) says this easter weekend could be a more important one than ever before for independent businesses and those on the high street.
It's as this weekend is the first bank holiday since Christmas, with motorists being warned to take extra care on the roads, with the AA estimating 18.5 million people could be set to be on the roads on Easter Saturday and 18.2 million on each of Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.
Manager of the BID team Muj Rahman says the weekend gives places a chance to receive business and is a key one for them.
He said: "It's the first real weekend after Christmas that businesses have their opportunities to promote themselves and to try to get people in spending money.
"January, February is always a quiet period, so Easter time is the first time that businesses can really give it a big push to try to encourage visitors coming into the town centre.
"These independent stores are the heart and soul of the high street and we are always looking at how can we better support them to try to encourage the community to come out and use these businesses."
