Two arrested after suspected drug dealing in Redditch stop and search
Police found suspected drugs and cash during the search
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing following a police stop and search in Redditch.
On Wednesday, 4th February, officers from the proactive CID intercepted a Nissan Qashqai showing no insurance at a Tesco petrol garage on Coldfield Drive.
The vehicle's occupants, a man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s, were stopped and searched.
Police discovered nearly £300 in cash, a burner phone, a phone suspected to be linked to drug dealing, a suspected dealer list, and suspected class A drugs – cocaine and heroin – with an estimated street value of approximately £300.
Both individuals were arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine and heroin with intent to supply, and using a motor vehicle without insurance.
They have been bailed pending further investigation, and the car has been seized.
Police effort against drug crime
Detective Constable Michael Vince of the Proactive CID team said:
“This was a successful stop by CID officers after the Nissan car became of interest to us, and two people are now being investigated on suspicion of drug dealing.
“The impact of illegal drugs and the harm they reap on the communities West Mercia Police are here to protect and serve is well documented.
“We will continue to track down those willing to deal drugs in our towns and villages, investigate them and bring them to justice.”
The investigation is part of West Mercia Police’s Operation Target, aimed at tackling serious and organised crime.
