Droitwich shoplifter banned from stores for two years

A shoplifter has been banned from multiple stores in Droitwich after being given a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Simon Matthews, 54, who has no fixed address, received the two-year order today (17th December) after being found guilty at Kidderminster Magistrates Court of five counts of theft from shop for which he was given a 12-month community order.

The two year CBO prohibits Matthews from entering from entering the following shops:

  • Home Bargains, Roman Way Retail Park, Kidderminster Road
  • Marks and Spencer’s, Worcester Road
  • Waitrose, Saltway, Droitwich
  • BP UK, Worcester Road, Droitwich
  • Boots, St Andrew’s Square, Droitwich
  • Morrisons, St Andrew’s Square, Droitwich
  • Sainsbury’s Local, Tolley Way, Copcut, Droitwich

Additionally, Matthews is not allowed to enter, exit, or be in any retail premises while wearing headwear such as a cap, hat, or balaclava, or covering his face in any way, such as wearing sunglasses/goggles (unless prescription), or covering face with hands.

Police Sergeant Cathy Atkinson of Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “We are pleased to get this two-year CBO for Matthews whose prolific shoplifting has harmed retailers and the community here in Droitwich.

“Anyone who sees him breaching his order should call 101 or report it online to us so we can take action.”
