Dozens of cannabis plants seized after warrant in Cherry Orchard
It's part of the police's Operation Target
More than 50 cannabis plants were recovered after Worcester police executed a misuse of drugs warrant at an address in the Cherry Orchard area on Tuesday (9 September).
Officers from across Worcester’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams, led by Battenhall and Nunnery SNT, joined forces as they targeted a property in Cherry Street.
The warrant was successfully executed following intelligence gathered around a suspected illegal cannabis grow at the address.
The teams used force to enter the house and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis. He has since been detained by Immigration Enforcement.
They then gained entry to an outbuilding where a cannabis grow of more than 50 plants was discovered on the ground floor, which will now be destroyed. Evidence of a harvested crop was also found on the first floor.
One man arrested
PC Phoebe Attwood of Battenhall and Nunnery SNT said: “Officers from Worcester and Warndon executed a warrant at an address in Cherry Street following intelligence around a suspected cannabis grow.
“One man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis who has been handed to Immigration Enforcement and more than 50 plants were recovered.
“Cannabis grows can be linked to organised crime groups, whose activities fuel further criminality, including modern slavery. Tackling these operations is vital to protecting our communities and keeping them safe from harm.”
Anyone who believes there may be an illegal grow or criminal activity in their community is urged to report it to us via their website.
