Neighbours and firefighters have been praised after a huge fire broke out at Lower Blakemere Farm near Tyberton.
Crews were called on Friday night tackle several fires after burning straw fell from a trailer and set light to fields and verges.
Farmers, neighbours and passers-by all pitched in to help, and the blaze has since been put out.
The agricultural incident near Tyberton resulted in five separate fires, prompted by a failed bearing on a bale trailer which ignited straw.
The blazes engulfed the trailer, a tractor, and a loadall, but thanks to quick thinking and community spirit, the situation didn't escalate further.
Fire crews from Hereford, Peterchurch, Eardisley, and Ewyas Harold arrived promptly and were supported by neighbours and farmers from the vicinity, who brought water bowsers and machinery.
Traffic was halted, and community members banded together to carry water and shift soil to combat the fires.
The entire farming community rallied in support, ensuring refreshments were available once the fires were extinguished.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the collective efforts of all involved were praised for averting a larger catastrophe.
