Organisers of a Worcestershire event dedicated to the work of a comedian who lived in the area says it's a chance to celebrate his legacy.
The Rik Mayall Comedy Festival gets underway in Droitwich today, in memory of Rik who died in 2014 and is set to hold a number of events over the next eight days.
Victoria Wood-Matthews from the festival's committee says a lot of hard work has gone into the event and it's great they can finally get it started.
"We're really excited about this festival because it's totally unique," she said.
"It's the first of its kind and it's here to honour Rick, we've worked with his family to celebrate his life and rather than a statue, we wanted to create this event that is going to be as full of life as he was.
"What's great is that it's brought Droitwich together in a way that has never been done before, it's going to be one of the biggest cultural events that has happened in our town and we're so proud of Rik and his legacy that we want everyone else to be part of it as well."
The events runs until June 7.
