Bin lorry crashes in Leominster

People are being asked to avoid part of Leominster after a bin lorry crashed into a building early this morning (11/11).

Emergency services were called to the junction of Mill Street, Bridge Street and Broad Street just before 7am.

Herefordshire Council says work is underway to assess the situation and their thoughts are with those affected.

A spokesperson for Herefordshire Council said: "At approximately 06:45 this morning a waste collection vehicle collided with a property at the junction of Mill Street, Bridge Street and Broad Street, Leominster.

"We are working with our partners to assess the situation.

"We are asking people to avoid the area to allow the emergency services to safely carry out their work.

"Our thoughts are with those involved in the incident and their families.

"We would like to thank the emergency services for their swift response.

"Further updates will be issued when more facts are known."

West Mercia Police said: "Emergency services are currently responding to an incident on Mill Street in Leominster after a bin lorry collided with a house at around 6.40am this morning (Tuesday 11 November).

"The road is currently closed, and we are asking people to avoid the area for the time being."
