West Mercia pledge £10K for bereavement support after child deaths linked to crime
Support extends to families across Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire
Families in West Mercia affected by the sudden death of a child due to crime will receive specialist bereavement support funded by a £10,000 grant from Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion.
The funding aims to provide counselling and emotional support through the registered charity, 2wish, which focuses on supporting people aged 25 and under.
The initiative is designed to assist victims and survivors in Shropshire, Herefordshire, and Worcestershire until the end of March 2027.
PCC John Campion announced the funding as part of his commitment to aiding families who face significant emotional distress and complex grief due to crime-related deaths.
2wish works closely with police, healthcare providers, and various agencies to ensure timely and compassionate support is offered to those in need.
Since its inception, the charity has supported over 10,000 individuals across the UK, including 1,575 in 2025 alone.
The PCC first provided grant funding to 2wish in 2024, underscoring ongoing support for families dealing with homicide, suicide, or road traffic collisions.
