A temporary speed limit has been introduced on the A465 at the Locks Garage crossroads after safety concerns from the community.

Herefordshire Council has reduced the national speed limit from 60mph to 40mph for an 18-month trial period.

The change began on November 10 and the council say its impact will be regularly monitored in partnership with local stakeholders.

Cllr Barry Durkin, Cabinet Member for Roads and Regulatory Services, said: “We have listened to the concerns of our residents and local businesses and as a result we have implemented a temporary speed reduction.

"Results will be monitored to assess whether this action improves highway safety, or whether we need to introduce further measures.

"Any further actions will be considered in conjunction with the local community.”
