16-year-old boy jailed for rape of teenage girl in Worcester
The attack happened in Cripplegate Park at around 2am on Sunday 10th August 2025
A 16-year-old boy has been jailed for over five years for raping a teenage girl in Worcester last year.
He was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court today (April 22), after previously admitting to one count of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
He was sentenced to a further two and a half years for the sexual assault, which will run concurrently with the rape sentence.
He has also been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
The incidenttook place in Cripplegate Park, Worcester, at around 2am on Sunday 10th August 2025.
CCTV footage identified the boy, then 15, following the 17-year-old victim over Worcester bridge into the park.
He was arrested within hours and charged two days later.
Detective Inspector Sharon Wallace-Rathmell, who led the investigation, said: “This was an incredibly traumatic experience for the victim, and one which also shocked the local community.
“I’m pleased that the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, will be detained for a significant period of time and won’t be able to cause further harm.
“We take all reports of rape and sexual assault incredibly seriously, and I’d like to commend the victim for having the courage to report the incident to us so quickly.
“I hope today’s outcome shows that we will do everything we can to can to ensure those who commit these abhorrent crimes are brought to justice.”
