16-tonne lorry pull was 'incredibly tough', says Evesham strongman
55-year-old Mark Bond dragged the vehicle more than 30 metres for a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK
A Worcestershire strongman has completed his 'biggest challenge yet' by pulling a 16-tonne lorry more than 30 metres.
55-year-old Mark Bond from Evesham has taken on similar challenges in the past to fundraise for Cancer Research UK.
His latest one took place at Jet Plant Hire’s headquarters which is based in Evesham itself.
Mr Bond, who's job by day is a car valet, says it was 'incredibly tough' but hasn't ruled out this being his last one.
"I say it's probably going to be my last one but it never is, there is going to be something next year I should think, but what at the moment I don't know," he said.
"I'll have to sit down with my trainer and we'll have a chat and see what we can do."
On how he managed to complete the challenge he added: "When I'm strapped in and ready to go. I just sort of blank everybody and everything out, it's just me, the lorry, and my trainer.
"He's shouting all the encouragement and that's all I'm hearing right up to the end because all I'm doing is just looking at the ground so I don't even know how far I've got to go still."
"I knew I had to see it through, so many of my friends and family have been affected by cancer and I’ve had my own cancer scare too."
The fundraiser for the challenge has so far raised more than £700 for the charity.
