A woman has been arrested and police are searching for two males after a serious incident near a school in Gloucester.

Police were called shortly after 8.50am this morning (6 November) to a report of an altercation on Chalford Road, near St Peter's High School in Tuffley.

It was reported that two males, one who was in possession of a sword, had been seen chasing two boys.

The two suspects then ran from the scene on foot.

One of the victims, a 17-year-old boy, suffered a superficial wound believed to have been caused by the sword.

The second victim, also a 17-year-old boy, was not physically hurt.

Later, police stopped a vehicle and arrested a woman on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with the incident.

She remains in custody for questioning.

Officers are continuing to search for the two males, who are believed to have been involved.

One was described as white, aged in his late teens to early 20s, and of medium to large build.

He is around 6ft tall and was wearing white sliders.

The other was described as white, around 5ft 5ins tall and of skinny build.

He was wearing black clothing.

Detective Inspector Sophie Dawkins, from the force's Criminal Investigation Department, said:

"We completely understand the concern this incident would have caused, especially when it happened near a school at drop off time.

"We've had armed officers searching the area, along with support from our drone unit and the National Police Air Service, and work is ongoing to identify and locate those involved.

"Numerous enquiries have been taking place and officers from the neighbourhood team have been in the area throughout the day to reassure parents that there is not thought to be a wider threat.

"We are now keen to hear from anyone who has not already spoken to police who witnessed what happened or who has dashcam or any other footage."
