West Country water firm warn of rise in scam texts
Thames Water's urging customers to be vigilant
Swindon and Gloucestershire supplier Thames Water is urging customers to be aware of a scam text doing the rounds.
They say the message details threats of switching off your supply if you don't pay them cash.
You're reminded this hasn't come from them.
They said: "We're aware of a scam text message recently sent to some of our customers. It threatens to turn off your water supply if you don’t pay money.
"This message hasn’t come from us. Please don’t click any links or pay any money. We’ll never turn your water off deliberately, even if you fall behind on bills.
"We’ll also never ask you for:
- Your personal or financial details
- Access to your online account
- A direct payment - any communication sent will guide you to our website or invite you to log in to your account
- An urgent action or a rushed decision
