Day two of Cheltenham Festival offers a blend of elegance and excitement for Style Wednesday this year.

Formerly known as ladies day, this is the day where racegoers are encouraged to dress up and show off the best of race day fashion.

One of the most popular accessories you’ll see people sporting today is a hat.

One local business has been providing hats to fashionable racegoers for years.

The Cheltenham Hat Company is just one of many local businesses that profits off of the attention that the festival brings to the county.

The company offers one to one appointments to help people find the perfect hat for them, in any colour or style.

Owner Sarah Speakman told Greatest Hits Radio what trends we can expect to see this year.

“The colours this year are pastels, there seems to be a lot of pastel fashion in the shops so people are coming to me wanting pastel accessories.

“Probably the most popular hat at the moment, obviously the winter weight felt hat but the half hat, which is on an Alice band, and you wear on the side of your head, they are still very very popular.”

The headline race of the day is the Queen Mother Champion Chase with Nicky Hendersons ‘Jonbon’ currently the favourite.
