Family pay tribute to 75-year-old man after fatal crash in Churchdown

Peter Bate died in hospital on Christmas Day after the incident earlier in December

The family of Peter Bate, 75, from Churchdown, have shared a tribute following his death after a collision last month.

Mr Bate was struck by a car on 14th December while walking his family dog on Cheltenham Road East in Churchdown. Emergency services attended the scene at around 4.40pm and he was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.

Sadly, Peter Bate passed away in hospital on 25th December 2025, 11 days after the collision.

In a statement, his family paid tribute, saying:

"Peter Bate sadly passed away on December 25 2025.

"He was involved in a road traffic collision in Churchdown on December 14 while out walking the family dog.

"He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

"Pete was a loving partner, father, and grandad. We are devastated by the loss of Pete, who was much loved by us all."
