Election in The Beeches Ward set for March following councillor resignation
Residents urged to register and vote in upcoming by-election

An election to fill the vacancy in The Beeches Ward has been set for 12th March 2026, following the resignation of Councillor Nigel Robbins from the Cotswold District Council.
Councillor Robbins, who served since 2015, has decided to retire, leaving his position open for a new candidate.
Jane Portman, chief executive officer at Cotswold District Council, expressed gratitude for Cllr Robbins's service and leadership.
She said, “I would like to thank Cllr Robbins for his dedicated service and excellent representation of his residents, particularly for his recent leadership as Chair of the Audit and Governance Committee. We wish him well for the future.”
Portman encouraged residents of The Beeches Ward to participate in local democracy by registering to vote and taking part in the by-election.

The election process includes key dates starting with the Notice of Election on 5th February.
Nomination papers can be submitted by hand at Council Offices on Trinity Road from 6th February, with the deadline for nominations set for 4pm on 13th February.
The publication of candidates will occur no later than 4pm on 16th February.
Residents must register to vote by 24th February, with deadlines for postal and proxy vote applications set for 25th February and 4th March, respectively.
Poll cards will be distributed towards the end of next week.
