Police are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was hospitalised following an incident in Abbeydale, Gloucester, on Sunday night (20 September).

The teenager remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition after police were contacted by the ambulance service at around 9pm following reports that a child was in a serious condition on Wheatway.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened.

It is understood the boy had been with two other boys in the area of Morrisons car park on Heron Way at around 8.40pm and had been riding bikes and e-scooters.

A second group of boys, who were also on bikes, are understood to have followed the first group.

As the first group rode away, it is understood one of the boys fell from his bike and emergency services were called. Some of the boys then left in the direction of Brae Walk.

Investigating officers are trying to establish what happened at the time of the fall and whether any criminal offences have been committed.

Four boys have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the investigation.

One boy who was arrested on Tuesday has since been released on police bail, while three others who were arrested on Wednesday remain in custody for questioning.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or doorbell footage which could assist the investigation.

It is believed the group travelled on The Wheatridge, Wheatway and Heron Way.
