Cheltenham Borough Council has announced a £650,000 investment in major refurbishment work at Barlow Road sheltered housing, aimed at enhancing safety and modern living standards.

An estimated £400,000 of this will be used to upgrade the mains water pipework.

Lovell Partnerships Ltd will manage this project, starting in autumn and expected to last 16 weeks.

Additionally, £250,000 will upgrade the warden call system from analogue to digital ahead of the government’s digital switchover in January 2027.

Ventro Group Ltd will manage the installation of new ‘nurse call’ alarms, enhanced fire safety systems, and upgraded video door entry systems.

This work commenced on 14th September and is due to complete in the autumn.

Cllr Flo Clucas said, ''The level of investment in Barlow Road both this autumn and over the next two years, is significant and demonstrates that safety and wellbeing of our tenants are an absolute priority.

The planned work will help ensure that Barlow Road remains a safe, secure and comfortable place to live for many years to come.''
