Several schools in Cheltenham have been forced to close today due to a burst water pipe causing major disruptions to the water supply.

Bettridge School, Warden Hill Primary School, and Cheltenham Bournside School have all announced their closures as they face water supply issues.

The burst pipe, impacting the entire area, has left the schools unable to operate normally and students are advised not to travel to school.

Severn Trent's latest update at 7.21am said: "Following on from our previous update, we’re really sorry if you’re still experiencing no supply, poor pressure or discoloured water due to the burst water pipe in the area.

"Our teams are working hard to get your water flowing again but have found the repair to be a lot more complex than first anticipated. We will provide you with a further update by 11am.

"Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience."

Further updates are expected as maintenance teams look to resolve the issue.
