Police are appealing for information after youths vandalised a statue in Cheltenham.

A group of males, believed to be five of them in their teens, were seen on CCTV in St Mary's churchyard on Chester Walk at around 4am on Saturday 20 July.

Two of the youths repeatedly kicked a lion statue which had been placed in the churchyard as part of the ‘Lions at Large’ charity trail.

Another member of the group filmed them causing the damage to the statue on his phone.

Although the incident was captured on CCTV, the quality of the footage is not clear enough to identify those involved and officers are now appealing to the public to help find those responsible.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are now asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may know who was involved to get in touch.
