No further action against 16-year-old arrested after man's death in Cheltenham

A second teenage boy, 17, who was arrested on suspicion or murder remains on police bail

A teenager arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 73-year-old man in Cheltenham will face no further action.

The 16-year-old was one of two teenagers arrested after a report of a serious assault on Honeybourne Way at around 7.30pm on Wednesday 8 April.

Emergency services attended and the victim was transported to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where he remained in critical condition until his death last Friday (10th April.)

Gloucestershire Police have confirmed today (15th April) that the 16-year-old boy has been released with no further action.

A 17-year-old boy who was also arrested on suspicion of murder remains on bail.

The force have also said the case is now being investigated by their major crime team and his next of kin and the coroner have been informed of his death.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
