Forest of Dean District Council are looking to create a role of Market Town’s Officer to help promote growth in the area.

The officer would be tasked with driving growth in local market towns and implement ideas for regeneration.

They would be engaging with people in the local community to get their ideas for towns like Lydney, Cinderford, Coleford and Newent.

The council say they have seen a decrease in footfall since covid and the rise of online shopping and want to bring back a buzz to the towns.

Councillor Johnathan Lane explained the importance of the role and said “Theres lots of idea for town centre generation, what’s often lacking is a lack of ability to implement ideas.

That’s what we wanted to invest in, to get someone in to turn some of these ideas into a reality”
