The South Cotswold MP, Roz Savage, is holding a flood summit at the Royal Agricultural University today ahead of the winter flooding season.

Residents are set to be informed on the plans Roz Savage has been putting into place to help lessen the impact flood events will have on local communities.

The summit is a follow up meeting from the Spring meetings back in March.

Some of the plans include securing funding for flood mitigation projects in several areas, following discussions over the summer with Thames Water, the Environment Agency, and other key partners.

Speaking ahead of the event, Roz said: “Flooding has been a major challenge in the South Cotswolds for many years, and since being elected I’ve made it one of my top priorities to bring forward practical, long-term solutions.

“Earlier this year I hosted community flood summits in Cirencester and Cricklade, and this weekend I’ll be holding a follow-up session at the Royal Agricultural University to share progress and outline next steps.

“By working together with residents, local authorities and government agencies, we can make real progress in protecting our towns and villages from the devastating impacts of flooding.”

The summit will also feature presentations from Tristan Wilkinson, Liberal Democrat Cabinet Member for Economy and Council Transformation at Cotswold District Council and a member of Roz’s parliamentary team, and Jenny Phelps, Senior Farm Environment Adviser at the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group and lecturer at the RAU.
