An investigation is underway after a man was spat at during an argument in busy traffic in Gloucester.

It happened after a white lorry pulled out in front of a van at the A417 roundabout towards Corinium Avenue.

Police say the lorry driver became verbally abusive and spat multiple times - officers want to hear from anyone who saw what happened around 5.45 last Monday.

In a statement, officers confirmed: "Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a report that a man repeatedly spat at another man in Gloucester.

"It was reported that a white Volvo lorry being driven by a man had pulled out in front of a Mercedes Benz van without any indication at the A417 roundabout heading towards Corinium Avenue.

"At the next set of lights, the driver of the van challenged the lorry driver, at which point the lorry driver has become verbally abusive before repeatedly spitting at the Mercedes Benz driver.

"The incident happened shortly before 5.45pm on Monday 21 July.

"Traffic was busy at the time of the incident and officers are now asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward."

Anybody with information is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police through the website, quoting incident 397 of 21 July.
