A man has died after a house fire in Chalford, near Stroud, last night (January 12).

Police, along with the fire and ambulance services were called at around 10.20pm to reports of a fire at a property off Cirencester Road.

A search of the property was carried out and a man was found dead inside the address.

Police say his next of kin have been informed.

Neighbouring properties were evacuated and emergency services remain at the scene, with a cordon in place.

Approximately 20 properties were impacted by a damaged power cable, and National Grid attended to restore electricity in the area.

Road closures are affecting Cirencester Road between Hampton Road junction at The Ragged Cot Inn and the A419 roundabout, as well as Gypsy Lane.
